Pamela Standhart, President
Pamela Standhart was elected to the board in 2012. She has lived in Middleburgh for 31 years. After moving to Middleburgh in the first grade, Ms. Standhart graduated from Middleburgh High School in 1980. Her husband (Class of 1980) and two children (Cody, Class of 2006 and Lindsay, Class of 2010) are also graduates.
Ms. Standhart says she enjoys serving on the board for several reasons:
- She is happy to give back to school which she enjoyed as a youth. Middleburgh provided a quality education which helped her to become successful as an adult.
- She wants to make the school experience for today’s students a pleasant one while providing a quality education where they too can succeed with their life’s endeavors.
- Lastly, she just enjoys learning. It has been a interesting experience learning about our educational system while trying to do what is best for our students and at the same time doing what is best for our taxpayers.
Becky Binder, Vice-President
Becky Binder was raised in Middleburgh and is a 1986 graduate of MCS. Her husband and son also graduated from the district. She was elected to the Board of Education 2012. Ms. Binder says she enjoys serving on the Board of Education because she gets to work with great people who are dedicated to the Middleburgh school district and community. She is excited by the opportunities Middleburgh students have available to them.
Debra A. Bechtold
Debra Bechtold was elected to the Board of Education in 2016. She has been a resident of the Middleburgh Central School District for more than 30 years. She is currently employed as a marketing manager at Cobleskill Auxiliary Services, Inc. (CAS, Inc.) where she promotes dining services, laundry and vending services to the faculty and staff members of SUNY Cobleskill and the community. She graduated from Perth Central School in Perth, NY and attended Fulton Montgomery Community College as an early admissions student. She attended SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Oswego, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in communications. Ms. Bechtold previously served as a coach for modified softball, modified girls’ basketball, varsity bowling, girls’ track, JV girls’ basketball and JV girls’ volleyball and was a member of the Booster Club. She is also a Middleburgh Library Trustee and a Schoharie County Master Gardener. She has two children: Ryan and Cameron.
Vicki Hoerz was first elected to the Board of Education in 2016. She has lived in the Middleburgh Central School District for more than 30 years and was a teacher at Middleburgh Elementary School before retiring in 2016. She graduated from Cobleskill Central School and went on to receive her Associate of Applied Science degree in early childhood education from SUNY Cobleskill. She received her Bachelor’s degree in education and minored in science at the College of St. Rose and received her Master’s degree in education from SUNY Oneonta. She is involved with the Middleburgh Rotary Club. She has one son, Joshua Joseph Hoerz, who graduated from MCS.
Scott VanKuren was first elected to the Board of Education in 2020. He has been a resident of the Middleburgh Central School District since 1992. He operated a business in Middleburgh for over twenty years, and is very fond of, and acquainted with our community. Scott’s two daughters were educated at MCS and his step daughter is currently attending the school as a sophomore. He currently resides in Preston Hollow with his fiancé Charylie Dennis and her daughter Jolene Dines. They operate and maintain a farm on Middlefort Rd. in Middleburgh. Scott is currently employed by Golub Corp, and manages the Price Chopper pharmacy in Cobleskill. “My goal is to increase the quality of education for the children of our district, and to ensure that the scarce resources we enjoy are directed towards that goal.”
