Student safety remains at the forefront of our mission here at Middleburgh Central Schools. Under the direction and guidance of the Superintendent’s Safety Committee, which meets monthly, and is made up of members from the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Middleburgh staff members, and members of the Middleburgh community, changes are being made to Down Street Privileges at the Jr./Sr. High School for the 2018-19 school year.
In 2018-19, only seniors who are in good academic standing, meaning they are passing all subjects, will be eligible for Down Street Privileges. Those seniors who are eligible must obtain written permission from a parent or guardian allowing them to leave campus during the day for Down Street Privileges.
All other students must remain on campus at all times while school is in session.
This change is not part of any punitive measure or punishment. This move comes directly out of the Superintendent’s Safety Committee as a way of keeping all of our students safe during the school day, and decreasing outside foot traffic in and out of our buildings.
