COVID-19 Updates and Extension of Remote Learning for Grades 7-12 Until January 4

Dear MCS families,

The latest information from the Schoharie Department of Health relating to the positive COVID-19 test on December 10 is that the quarantines will end at midnight on December 23. Considering that, the district has decided to continue with remote instruction until after the new year for grades 7-12. Their return date is Monday, January 4.

In addition, two elementary school teachers are quarantined and teaching from home awaiting the results of their COVID-19 test. It is important to understand that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any identifiable information about a person who has tested positive.

Middleburgh Central School District continues to thoroughly clean and disinfect all buildings on campus in accordance with requirements from the New York State Department of Health and the CDC.

Please know that we will continue to work very closely with DOH to monitor transmission rates in our community and keep all MCS families informed.

Thank you,

Brian Dunn
Superintendent of Schools
