MCS Athletes Score Big in the Classroom and on the Field

MCS student-athletes continue to be stellar examples of the district’s philosophy to go “Beyond Good Enough.” For the fall season, over a dozen athletes and the boys varsity soccer team earned recognition from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). 

Athletic Director Gregg Johns praised the students’ commitment to excellence across all areas of school life.

“Our student-athletes continue to excel, both on the field/court and in the classroom,” said Johns. “Being able to balance sports and school is a challenge, but our student-athletes have proven that they are up to the task. Athletics prepares them to be successful after their playing days are done at MCS.  ”

NYSPHSAA recognizes individual student-athletes who maintain a 90+ GPA during their sports season. The Individual Scholar-Athletes include:

In addition, the MCS Boys Varsity Soccer Team earned the prestigious Scholar-Athlete Team Recognition. To receive this honor, a team must have 75% or more of its roster achieve a combined GPA of 90 or higher, a benchmark that reflects both academic discipline and teamwork.
