Seasons of Community: MCS Alumna Creates Elementary School Mural

In early September, Beal shared some preliminary design ideas with community members and asked about what they enjoy most about the area. Once the design was finalized, she spent about two months painting the mural and allowing it to cure before applying clear protective coats.

“I am so grateful for the support I received from Principal Irwin, Superintendent Place and Facilities Director John Youmans in helping to streamline this project so that it could be completed before the cold weather moved in,” said Beal.

Since its unveiling, the mural continues to brighten the day for students, staff and parents. Beal chose its high-traffic location deliberately, noting that parents can enjoy it while waiting in the daily pick-up line.

This mural was made possible in part by the CHARM Program “Cultivating Havens for the Arts through Regional Murals”, an initiative of Governor Hochul. Saratoga Arts, on behalf of New York State Council on the Arts, asked Casey to create a mural that speaks to “community.”
