Distinctive Enrichment Program July 19-30

The next MCS summer enrichment program starts on Monday. Classes will take place in the Jr. / Sr. High School from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, weekdays, Monday, July 19 – Friday, July 30. Students in grades first through sixth have signed up for unique learning experiences. The teachers have come up with cool ideas to make learning fun!

Week 1: July 19-23

A Map of our Community

  • Grades: 1-2
  • Teachers: Ingram/Rivers
  • Description: Incorporation of SS, ELA, and math to explore the Middleburgh community

Natural Disasters

  • Grades: 2-3
  • Teachers: Becker/Leclair
  • Description: Students will learn about different natural disasters through science experiments, reading materials, and more

MES 2021 SUMMER OLYMPICS/STEM

  • Grades: 3-4
  • Teachers: Hoogkamp/Ryan
  • Description: Incorporation of different sports and math/reading/science

Roller Coasters/ STEM

  • Grades: 5-6
  • Teachers: Pamel/Wood
  • Description: Students will work with a team to create a Paper Roller Coaster out of cardstock and tape – preview video link

Week 2: July 26-30

Boats and Buoyancy

  • Grades: 1-3
  • Teachers: Ingram/Rivers/Leffler
  • Description: Incorporation of math/reading/writing/science

    (ex: measuring boat lengths, math word problems related to the theme, buoyancy  experiments, related reading passages, etc.)

STEM/Animals

Grades: 4-6

Description: Incorporation of animal adaptations, habitats, geography and reading/writing/math
