MCS Girls and Boys Varsity Soccer Teams to Play in Sectionals

Wednesday, October 20 at 3:00 p.m. in Chatham 

  • Middleburgh girls varsity soccer vs. Chatham

Thursday, October 21 at 3:00 p.m. at home

  • Middleburgh boys varsity soccer vs. the winner of the Hadley-Luzern/ND-BG game

The boys finished the regular season with a 13-3 overall record and 8-3 in conference play

They are seeded #6 in this year’s Sectionals

“We are very excited and thankful for the opportunity to play a home sectional game. The last time we hosted a home sectional game was in October of 2019 and my seniors were sophomores. We have had a successful season so far and we hope to continue our strong play,” said Coach Johns

Overall regular season stats for the boy’s team:

  • Austin Johns 34 goals 15 assists
  • Kaurice Bell 24 goals 5 assists
  • Nate Wood 12 goals 5 assists
  • Keeper Ben Croote has 76 saves

“We are led by a strong core of seniors.  Kaurice Bell, Tristin Diaz, Gage Calitri, Kevin Fuller, Mike Schofell, Nick Wood, Jacob Barnes,” said Coach Johns. “This has been a great group to coach!”

The girls overall record for the regular season was 6-8-1

“We are going into postseason play as the underdogs,” said Coach Ryan. “Chatham is seeded #12. This will be our first time playing in the postseason in a couple of years. For most of the girls on the team, it is their first postseason opportunity ever. We are excited to go out there and give everything we’ve got.”

  • 10th grader Laney Heaney #5 – 9 goals 1 assist
  • 12th grader Alyssa Wayman #4 – 3 goals 4 assists
  • 9th grader Ellie Shaul #17 – 2 goals 2 assists
  • 9th grader Emma Lacko #2 – 2 goals 1 assist
  • 10th grader Sarah Schafroth #14 – 1 goal 4 assists
  • 10th grader Ashley Moorhead  #15- 1 goal 1 assist
  • 12th grader Gillian Acker #1 – 1 goal (defender)
  • 12th grader Cameryn Shultes #18 – 202 saves
