Request for family input: Please complete Middleburgh’s 2020-21 School Reopening Survey by July 26

Survey artWhile schools nationwide address uncertainty and a range of potential scenarios for the fall, Middleburgh knows reopening our schools is a community-wide undertaking and we’re looking for your input via this reopening schools survey:

Middleburgh 2020-21 School Reopening Survey

As we await additional federal, state and Education Department guidance, Middleburgh is continuing its intensive review of three various school reopening scenarios,  are similar to what school districts throughout the state — and nationally — are currently reviewing.

These various scenarios include:

  •   A full return to school with all students attending, with social distancing mandates in place
  •   A hybrid model where some grades/students return to school with social distancing while others learn from home in a virtual environment. Hybrid alternatives could include rotating at-home/at-school instruction, staggered schedules or calendars.
  •   Full virtual model, with all students participating from home.

Given the changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s critical for our families and greater school community to understand and accept that this will be a fluid process, with the governor making the final decision.

Please know there is nothing we want more than to have our students, teachers and staff together at school. We understand the academic and social/emotional importance of this. But, we have a responsibility to put the health and safety of our students and staff first and foremost. This includes a reopening scenario that mitigates risk and provides for best practices in health, safety and instruction and student support. As always, we know our community remains our supportive partners.

Thank you for your thoughtful responses to these questions. This survey will close on July 26.
