Superintendent Dunn Accepts Position as Next Leader of Pine Bush CSD

Dear MCS Families,

For the last four years, our school district has experienced spectacular advancement across the board in terms of instruction, technology, the arts, athletics, extracurricular programs, and facility upgrades. We have accomplished these things with great leadership and responsible budgets that had minimal or no increases to our taxpayers.

As President of the Board of Education, I can tell you that the partnership the board has built with Superintendent Brian Dunn over these years has been a driving force in the progress we have made. Mr. Dunn hired excellent new principals and teachers. Our graduation rate has increased. We are no longer a school in need of improvement, but received a new status as the 12th best regional high school from U.S. News & World Report. Middleburgh Central School District is broadening our horizons. We have made great effort to be culturally responsive to foster a sense of belonging for every student, staff member and our beloved community.

For the reasons I listed and many more, it is unfortunate to inform you that Superintendent Dunn will be leaving the district after this school year. However, I am also delighted for the new opportunity he has that will be best for him and his family. Mr. Dunn has accepted the position of Superintendent of Pine Bush Central Schools. On behalf of the board, we would like to express our appreciation for the time and energy Brian gave to Middleburgh. We are grateful for his leadership and wish him the best.

With this news also comes an opportunity to build on our successes with a new superintendent. The BOE will work closely with the District Superintendent at Capital Region BOCES, Ms. Anita Murphy to initiate the search for our next district leader. Community input is part of the process. We will have more information in the coming weeks. Until then, please join us in thanking Superintendent Dunn for his commitment to educational excellence.

Sincerely,

Pamela Standhart
Board of Education President
