Mr. Place comes to Middleburgh as an experienced district leader who has worked in education for 26 years. He served as the superintendent of Milford Central School District for five years. Mr. Place started his career as a teacher and after 13 years took on an administrative role as the Chief Information Officer of the Albany City School District.

In April, the BOE began the search for the next superintendent with a process that involved community input and Capital Region BOCES consultants. The board gathered significant feedback and ideas about the desired characteristics in the district’s next leader through a month-long community survey, and a series of six in-person, and two virtual stakeholder forums.

Jeffery Ziegler has been serving as the district’s interim superintendent since July 1.
